Day 3 – Atlanta/Munich

I honestly couldn’t tell you where Saturday ended and Sunday began. It has all just been one huge blob of a day. We started the day with a light jog around the downtown area of Athens, Georgia and came back to the hotel to get all of our bags ready to go for the flight to Germany. For some reason I was exhausted this morning and couldn’t stay awake for the life of me. Good thing we had a nearly two hour trip back to the airport for me to get a little shut eye. Everything went smoothly with checking in and customs, so all that was left was to kill a few hours before we boarded our flight. A nice lunch with the boys in the food court passed the time nicely, and after waiting around for another hour or so we were just about ready to board. Before we got on the plane, the coaches wanted to talk to the goaltenders. They told us that because there are five games, each of us will get one full game, and two periods of the final two games against the EUHL Selects, which they believe will be broadcasted online. They wanted me to take game one which I was excited for…..until I figured that we would have to play a hockey game after an 8 and a half hour flight, and a two hour bus trip to the hotel. That is some serious jet lag. On the plane, we had the opportunity to watch movies, tv shows, listen to music, etc. So I threw on “The Maze Runner” and figured I would fall asleep after the movie. Well, three movies, one tv show, and a whole Country playlist later we landed and I got zero sleep at all. Good start to a long day. Check day 4 for more information on our first day in Europe!

By the way, you said to check day 3 for more on your trip. I think you mean day 4. Jet lag has really set in.
