Day 7 – Munich
As fun as last night was, today was the perfect day to sleep in and take it easy. We all stayed in until our walking tour started at 2. Our tour guide, Marcus, is a Munich native who knows the city like the back of his hand. As I stated in the previous post, trying to find our hotel in a foreign town in the state we were in was nearly impossible. So, we all thought it was hilarious when Marcus told us how easy it is to find your way around the city. We started walking all around the city and saw the town hall, the former king’s palace, where Hitler started his planning. It was all very interesting. Marcus told us the history of Munich, or Munchen as they call it, as if he had lived all 857 years of its existence. I love going on tours like that and learning about what happened right where I was standing 450 years ago. That kind of thing is so cool to me. Our walking trip lasted about an hour or so and afterwards we went out for lunch and went back to the hotel to do laundry/rest until dinner at 7. I wish that I could have skipped the dinner so I could watch the Winter Classic but there was no way that was happening. I only ended up missing the first period as dinner went pretty quickly and the game started a bit late. Now I am just sitting in my room FUMING AT HOW HORRIFIC THAT PENALTY CALL WITH ONE MINUTE LEFT IN A TIE HOCKEY GAME WAS. WHAT KIND OF AN IDIOT MAKES A SOFT CALL LIKE THAT WITH SO LITTLE TIME LEFT?!?!?! I DON’T CARE IF IT WAS A MAKE-UP CALL. THAT’S ABSOLUTELY &*!^%@#$ BRUTAL. But whatever….I’m not mad or anything.
Your News Years Eve post is missing! You referenced it above, get it up there!
Andrew, glad you had a great time touring Munich. The pictures are really great. It is some memories that you will always treasure. Sounds like your tour guide Marcus is a pretty cool guy. How was your New Years Eve ? Was it a late night ? Yeah your right about the winter classic, a great game up until that stupid penalty was called on Toews. I just got done talking to Trevor, (Bobrovsky) he’s been out on the ice rink. Ok buddy stay safe and play tough.

Hi Andrew, glad you’re feeling that sense of history on this trip……we’re such a new nation compared to all of Europe. 250 years is old for us…….they laugh!!
Did Marcus take you to see the Glockenspiel in Marienplatz, the animated clock? Saw that a few years ago, and it’s quite a sight.
Can’t quite figure out what’s in that sixth picture….is it a scale model of something? Well, get ready, we’ll be plying
you with all sorts of questions when you get home.
So glad the ACHA has set up such a great itinerary for you guys…….I know this will certainly whet the appetite for future European travel!! Your blogs and photos are great, I look forward to reading them each morning with my coffee.
Bummer about the Hawks, but I can see you’re handling it well, you’re NOT MAD AT ALL!!!!!
Glad you got some rest. What great history you are seeing. The pictures are so amazinggggggggg, Are one of them an indoor mall? How has the food been? Have fun!!!!!!!! #1
Andy and I spoke to Andrew this morning. He seems to think he’s never coming home. If we want to reach him or visit, he’s in Bled, Slovenia. Unfortunately, I had to burst his bubble that this trip of a lifetime ends on January 9th and that he better be on that plane!!!! I say we have our next family vacation in Bled. Any takers?
That’s because I’m really not coming home…….Just updated the New Years Eve post by the way.
You sure are coming home I will come and get you myself would you like a family vacation out there None of us would come home lovr Grandma
Hockey???? Oh yeah, that’s why your over there, it’s not to try the local brews, or local food or wander through a town that survived the war….. Lololol. You should probably take more pictures!!!!! MERICA!! Enjoy yourself!
